Taseer Ali is a Pakistan-based cinematographer with a profound passion for capturing time, space, and memory through visual language. A graduate of the National College of Arts, where he earned a distinction in Film and Television, Taseer has built a diverse body of work spanning fiction films, music videos, advertisements, and documentaries. His work is driven by a commitment to storytelling – creating images that evoke emotion and bring people together.
He believes that great cinematography goes beyond crafting beautiful images. For Taseer, it is about understanding the deeper meaning of a story and translating that essence onto the screen with sensitivity, intention and heart. His approach combines technical precision with emotional depth, ensuring that every frame serves the narrative.
Taseer’s keen eye for composition, lighting, and visual storytelling has contributed to the success of films that showcased at numerous A-list film festivals. He shot City of Men (2023), a short film that was screened at Tasveer – the first South Asian Oscar-qualifying film festival and won Best Short Film at the Muslim International Film Festival. He also served as cinematographer for Solatia (2024), which was screened at the Red Sea Film Festival.
His film Time After Time (2025) was selected at the Prestigious Chicago South Asian Film Festival and won at the Rameshwaram International Film Festival (RIFF). In 2024 and 2025, he received the Best Cinematography Award at the Gandhara Film Festival for his work on The RoundLake (2023) and Udeekan (2024), respectively.
Most recently, his feature documentary Hanging By A Wire (2026), directed by Muhammad Ali Naqvi, was selected in the World Cinema Documentary Competition at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival.
